Pinterest has finally released an update for its Android app, and it is available from Google Play.

Pinterest, founded in 2010 by Ben Silbermann, Evan Sharp and Paul Sciarra, is based in San Francisco, California. The latest update to their software, version 1.3, now makes it easier for users to pin their favorite content using an Android phone by including several features that were previously missing from the mobile version such as the ability to approve group board invitations and see who else is sharing content.

The updated Pinterest app has improved group boards, so images can be shared easier on mobile devices. In addition, it is now possible to view who else is pinning content to the boards and handle board invitations from other members. These features did not function correctly in older versions of the app because of known bugs in the software. For example, it was not possible to accept an invitation to a group board from another member with the app in the past.

The mobile and PC versions of Pinterest seem to be converging with the latest Android app update. Many of the features that users have grown to love on the computer version of the website are now available on the app. This appears to be part of the company’s goal to make using either version of its website a more seamless and better experience.

The February announcement that Pinterest has finally spent time on updating a popular app is part of the company’s strategy to focus on mobile users in 2013. In addition to a new version of the Android app, Pinterest has shared a new iPhone app.

Nielsen, a global research and marketing company, rates Pinterest’s traffic in 2012 at 27.5 million unique visitors. An estimated 4.9 million of the visitors are using apps on their mobile devices to access the popular website. Pinterest has quickly become a favorite online destination for bookmarking and scrapbooking content, so these numbers are expected to increase in 2013.

The key to maintaining growth for Pinterest may be attracting more mobile users. Nielsen has revealed that the company saw a growth rate of 1,698 percent in 2012 among mobile users. Pinterest has the ability to continue this growth by providing updated apps that will keep users coming back for the content.

This isn’t the first time Wozniak has made positive comments to the media regarding Samsung, and he was quoted last year as saying that he personally owns a Samsung Galaxy S3 and uses it alongside his iPhone, even preferring its picture-taking abilities.

In fact, Wozniak is not the only Galaxy S3 fan. The android smartphone made headlines this January when it surpassed the 40 million unit sales mark. Additionally, the entire S series, which includes the Galaxy S, S2, and S3, passed the 100 million sales mark globally. And while Samsung continues to be locked in legal battle with Apple regarding Apple’s contention that Samsung infringed on their smartphone patents, it doesn’t seem to have had a harmful effect on the company’s overall sales.

The phone’s 4.8 inch HD screen is one of its most raved about features. But even with its large screen size the phone is still light, weighing in at 4.7 ounces. Additionally, the phone carries an S Voice feature which allows users to give voice-enabled commands including answering the phone, sending a text message, and playing songs.

In November, the phone passed the 30 million sales mark and having reached an additional 10 million sales in roughly two months the phone doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Samsung recently announced that they would be releasing a Galaxy S4 this year, but only time will tell what new differences the company will introduce. For now, consumers like Wozniak continue to assist the company in breaking sales records and providing the iPhone with healthy sales competition.

With the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, CIRA, showing Canadians averaging 45 hours per month online, it was only a matter of time before Amazon would extend its Kindle domination into the country.

While Kindle sales have been successful since Amazon began distribution to Canadian residents, high prices mixed with poor e-book selection have kept the company from taking over the region. Amazon V.P., Peter Larsen says he is “…cautiously optimistic…” regarding increased Canadian sales of the Kindle Paperwhite for a variety of reasons.

Larsen’s main concern centers on the differences between copyright and publishing laws in the U.S. and Canada. While Amazon’s goal is to provide Canadian buyers with all the benefits American consumers of the Paperwhite have, legal restrictions prevent the company from giving access to titles that are otherwise available in other areas of the world.

In an effort to circumvent book availability problems and high prices, Amazon launched a more localized version of its e-store on Amazon.ca. Here, Kindle users can search for local authors, look for best -selling titles, and buy Kindle accessories. Most items sold on the site are shipped directly from Amazon warehouses located in the region.

Kindle Paperwhite can be purchased online through Amazon’s U.S. site, Amazon.ca, or in one of Canada’s select bookstores throughout the country.

The Lumia smartphones’ success is a dramatic change for Nokia which struggled through most of 2012. Nokia actually “lost $2.7 billion in the first nine months of 2012,” but this changed in the fourth quarter thanks to the rapid sales of the Lumia line. Now, the smartphones are on the best seller list on Amazon and continue to attract buyers. Unfortunately, Nokia is not sure if it can maintain the high sales levels throughout 2013 since it credits the holidays with increasing sales in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Nokia’s rising sales figures may also be attributed to the way it has been marketing the Lumia. The company has managed to successfully convey the benefits of owning a Windows smartphone. In particular, the benefits which Windows affords, such as added online security, have attracted many customers worried about Internet security on their smartphones.

In addition, Nokia has been digging deep and providing significant discounts making the Lumia one of the cheapest yet best value for money Internet phones on the market.

At one point the Lumia dropped as low as $39 on Amazon during the holidays, but it soon rebounded back up as demand temporarily outstripped supply.

Nokia is now trying to expand its global reach and maintain high sales figures for the Lumia line by offering the Lumia 620, a cheaper version of its smartphones, in Europe. The Lumia 620 is being marketed as a more affordable version of a Windows 8 phone.

The company hopes that sales of the Lumia 620 combined with their other smartphone offerings will bring about the beginning of a change of fortune for Nokia after a long time in the dark.

As announced on January 1^st, an alliance has been formed of seven members whose aim to help offices around the world use less paper from the start of 2013.  At the same time, devices which promote a paperless working environment, such as the Samsung portable drive, are being promoted by the alliance and gaining in popularity as consumers invest in additional digital storage in response to the tech companies’ joint campaign.

Led by Hellofax, companies backing the #Paperless2013 campaign are calling on businesses and individuals around the world to sign up to a ‘paperless pledge’ and digitise their document management systems.

“The paperless office is here – we just need to use it,” said Joseph Walla, CEO of HelloFax. “It’s easy to sign, fax, and store documents without ever printing a piece of paper. The digital tools that are available today blow what we had even five years ago out of the water…it’s finally fast and simple to complete paperwork and expense reports, to manage accounting, pay bills and invoice others.”

On signing up to the pledge, signatories receive ‘a monthly newsletter with tips and tools from the Paperless Coalition.’ Hellosign, Fujitsu Scansnap, Expensify, Manilla and Xero are supporting the campaign alongside Google Drive and Hellofax. Between them, these companies provide most of the software necessary for an office or individual to kick the printing habit.

But while the coalition’s advice and specialised software facilitates digital storage for consumers connected to the internet 24/7, those who aren’t online all the time are seeking desktop self-storage solutions, like Samsung’s trending hard drive.  With a spate of positive reviews around the web, analysts believe sales of the device have benefitted from individuals’ desire to digitalise their personal papers in the new year.

‘The Walking Dead: The Game’ wins Game of the Year at the 10^th Video Game Awards held at Spike TV. Samuel L. Jackson hosted the awards ceremony at Sony Pictures Studios for the fourth time, warning that he wasn’t going to hold back on the expletives.

The game also won 4 other awards for Best Performance by Human Female, Best Adapted Video Game, Best Downloadable Game and the creators; Telltale Games won Studio of the Year.

The game is based on a popular comic book franchise and also the television series, which is now on its third season. The game, comic and TV series features a group of people struggling to survive in a world where the zombie virus has infected the majority of the population.

Although the characters in the game are not the same as in the television series there are some similarities for fans of the TV show to connect with. The player becomes Lee, an escaped prisoner who chooses to take care of a young girl named Clementine who is abandoned by her parents. Melissa Hutchinson who is the voice for Clementine won Best Performance by Human Female for her emotionally intense portrayal.

As you play through the game your choices influence your character and the game reacts accordingly. Creator, Robert Kirkman, thanked the fans of the comic, show and game, saying that they are the ones who made it all possible. The game beat both Assassins Creed 3 and Mass Effect 3 for these major awards and has received hit reviews for the depth of character and stimulating storyline. The other games that won at the VGA were Halo 4 for Best Xbox 360 game, Half Life 2 for Game of the Decade and Mass Effect 3 for Best RPG.
